Museum & Tunnel Tour – April 19th

Thanks to everyone who came out to the 3rd Annual Museum and Tunnel Tours, it was another huge success and none of that is possible without your support!! So thank you, thank you and thank you!!

Our annual Museum and Tunnel tour will take place on Thursday, April 19th at 6pm!! We will be doing two history presentations that evening at 6:00 and 6:45pm!! Cost for the event is $10 for adults, $5 for students and lil Tigers are free!! Please note, no cameras or any type of ‘ghost hunting’ equipment is allowed in the tunnels!! If you’ve come by before please come again, it’s always a good feeling to walk into ole EPHS!! We’ll see you soon Tigers!!

Reunion Information for 2012

Have you ever noticed the special bond between EPHS Tigers? When you say, “remember Spring Fiesta?” or “Remember our senior year Claw Game..” or even, “remember Eve of the ‘E’?” Our traditions are the ties that bind us, no other school in this region can compete with our history, for that reason many Tigers want to come back each year to relive those memories. Last year the Association hosted 7 reunions and several hundred Tigers came back to the Lady on the Hill, 2012 should be no different!!

Is it your time to come back home to the greatest high school in the land for a reunion this year? The Alumni Association is glad to help and we want to meet with your group or class!! Here is information to help you get started with planning that special event.

If your class has a presence on the web, please send reunion information to ephsco1997@yahoo.com to have your information posted on our Facebook page and linked to our web site.

Please consider adding an amount to your ticket prices to make a donation to the Alumni Association (towards scholarships, class gift or 100 years celebration). The Class of 1961 donated outdoor tables and benches to the campus which were almost $8,000 and the Class of 1991 donated over $1800 which is earmarked towards scholarships this year.

We also ask that you appoint one person in your planning committee to submit a nomination for the 2012 Outstanding Ex. This helps the Alumni Association gather a broader number of nominees and it helps connect your class with our wonderful Homecoming activities. You can find all the information to submit a nomination for Outstanding Ex under the tab “Upcoming Events” at the top of the page.

School and Museum Tours hosted by the Alumni Association are available for your reunion. Tours are offered on Friday evenings before home football games. Here is the schedule for this year’s possible tour dates:

Fri. Sept. 7 vs. Cathedral

Fri. Oct. 12 vs. Jefferson – Homecoming 2012

Fri. Oct. 26 vs. Chapin

Fri. Nov. 9 vs. Austin – The 81^st Claw Game

The tour is a great place to gather people together before the game and much easier to get your group back to school then a Saturday morning. The museum is only open when it is an Alumni Association led tour. The school is open for tours during their regular hours as well as after school, if you’d like a special group tour please contact us at ephsco1997@yahoo.com. If the school is not open, a facilities request and fee may need to be taken care of through the district.

Through memberships, donations and fund raisers, we help give back to the school that gave us so much. You can find out what’s going on with the Alumni Association through Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ephsalumni) and this website (http://ephsalum.com/). Memberships can also be purchased on the website via our secure Paypal feature – $10 for a year’s membership in the Association. If you are interested in a membership please click on the “Membership” tab above. Our activities throughout the year include the Annual CD Jarvis Basketball Tournament, cushion and t-shirt sales at football games, Homecoming Activities (Outstanding Ex Dinner, Museum Open House and Reception), Tunnel Tours and Reunion Museum Tours. Through donations we are also bringing back the Alumni Association Scholarship. Our next big project is the celebration of the Lady on the Hill turning 100 years old and beautifying this wonderful school for that occasion. So get involved, volunteer and come to our next meeting, we always have fun because we are doing great things for the students at EPHS!!

Class of 1961 Gift

We are so happy so show you the gift the Class of 1961 bought for EPHS!! They bought two of these beautiful benches that sit and look over historic R.R. Jones!! A lot of work went into this wonderful gift and the Alumni Association would really like to personally thank the Class of 1961, these benches are a great addition to the best high school in the region!!

New Principal Kristine Ferret

Kristine Ferret, Ross Middle School principal, has been named principal of El Paso High. Ferret joined EPISD in 2001 as an assistant principal/student activities manager at Richardson Middle School. She also was an assistant principal at Hornedo Middle School. Ferret has a bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Western Oregon University and a master’s in education leadership from the University of Oregon.

We believe Ms. Ferret is the first female Principal in the 127 year history of EPHS!

Alumni Association May Meeting

Our next Alumni Association meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 9th at 6:00pm at EPHS in the Student Activities Room, which sits and the end of the hallway in the lower level of EPHS. We hope many of you join us!!
